Job Description

Bishop Dunne Catholic School has an opening for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher - High School Math for January to June 2026.  


 


Bishop Dunne is the only Catholic diocesan school that enrolls students in grades six through twelve. The Bishop Dunne student body mirrors the diversity of Dallas, with over 75% identifying as students of color, and approximately half the students are Catholic. 


 


The candidate will be a dedicated professional who understands the joys and demands of teaching at the secondary level and has an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter.  Teachers are expected to develop daily lessons that meet the goals of the classes, complete grading, maintain an advisory group and lead advisory group meetings, as well as perform all basic administrative duties (ex. Maintain attendance records, accurate grade book, comment writing).

General Duties:? 


 


The mission of the Catholic school is to “Teach as Jesus did,” thereby mandating teachers in our schools to be reflections of Christ’s love and concern. This position reports to the principal and has decision-making responsibilities within the framework of school policies, philosophy, organization, and curriculum. Education/Experience Requirements: 


 



  • A bachelor's degree in mathematics or at least 18 graduate credits in math from an accredited university is required.? A master's degree is preferred. 

  • A minimum of 12 education credits is required. A valid Texas teaching certificate with   required endorsements for Math and AP College Board certification are preferred.?

  • Previous experience teaching advanced high school mathematics including Precalculus and Calculus. AP experience preferred.   

  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal communications skills with competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Solid technology skills for use in instructional and professional tasks.

  • Must be able to pass the required background check and comply with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program. 

  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
