Job Description

JOB TITLE: Accounting Manager DEPARTMENT: Fiscal

 

Summary

Manages and administers day to day accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, payroll, and fixed assets. Assists with cash handling functions and with the preparation and analysis of all financial statements and budgets.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in development of accounting policy and internal controls
  • Provide operational and functional support to accounting staff
  • Assist in budget development and prepare budget variance reports monthly
  • Ensure transactions are posted timely for preparation of financial statements
  • Responsible for ensuring deadlines are met within the Finance Department
  • Assists with the preparation and analysis of monthly and year-end financial statements.
  • Works closely with Assistant Comptroller and Comptroller / CFO on annual audit and other projects
  • Oversee monthly bank reconciliation, general ledger maintenance and month-end closing.
  • Responsible for weekly payroll taxes and 401(k) contribution payments, preparing quarterly and yearly tax returns for filing.
  • Responsible for all activities in the accounts payable/receivable, payroll, per capita payment and tribal loan functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with emphasis in accounting and 5 years of experience in professional level accounting or equivalent level of education and experience.
  • Prior fund accounting experience required.
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Prefer prior experience with federal grants and contract administration.
  • Familiar with standard accounting principles, concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Requires extensive computer, spreadsheet and analytical skills.
  • Strong emphasis in teambuilding.

 

SUPERVISION:

  • Supervised by the Assistant Comptroller

 

SALARY LEVEL:

  • Annual Salary Range: $68,910.40 - $172,286.40
