Job Description

INTRODUCTION:

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.


We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

About the Role 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Physical Security Specialist to conduct comprehensive physical security surveys and support the protection of facilities, personnel, and assets. This role is responsible for assessing security risks, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, and recommending effective mitigation strategies. 



Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct physical security surveys, including preliminary, initial, periodic, supplemental, and site-specific assessments  
  • Evaluate buildings, facilities, and operational areas for vulnerabilities and compliance with security standards  
  • Document and analyze existing physical security measures (e.g., access control, CCTV, alarms, barriers)  
  • Identify risks and provide actionable recommendations to improve security posture  
  • Support security assessments for sensitive areas such as IT/server rooms and restricted spaces  
  • Prepare detailed reports, risk assessments, and security plans  
  • Collaborate with internal teams (IT, facilities, operations) to implement security controls  
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and incident reviews  
  • Monitor changes in threats or operations and recommend updates to security measures  



Qualifications 

  • Diploma or degree in Security Management, Criminology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)  
  • 2–5 years of experience in physical security, risk assessment, or facility security  
  • Knowledge of physical security systems (access control, surveillance, intrusion detection)  
  • Familiarity with security standards and risk management frameworks  
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and security documentation tools  
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to sites as required

  • *MUST* Have the ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance (resident in Canada 10 years or longer, clean record, clean credit history)

  • Job type: Full-Time
  • Hourly Rate of Pay: $27.93 per hour
  • Hours of work:  0800 to 1600hrs
  • Location: CFB Borden
