5.6 hour 5 days a week position worked as (4) four 7.0 hour days
Substitute positions available the 5th day for field trips.

Job Description
Health Room Assistant

Reports To: Principal/School Nurse Employee Group: FRESP
Hours per Day: Varies due to need of position Days per Year: 183
Job Summary:
To provide medical support to the student population.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Current Child Abuse, PA State Criminal History and PDE FBI Clearances as required by the Child
Protective Services Law
• Must possess valid PA LPN or RN license preferred
• Crisis Prevention Intervention Training or equivalent (offered through the District)
• Willingness to be trained in areas pertinent to individual student needs.
• Experience working with children
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner
Duties and Responsibilities (include but may not be limited to):
1. Check emergency cards.
2. Complete growth screenings.
3. Administer first aid and handle cases of illness.
4. Dispense medication according to district policy.
5. Initiate accident reports where appropriate and notify school nurse.
6. Initiate and keep student health records current.
7. Organize and maintain yearly workbooks.
8. Conduct auditory/visual screening as directed by school nurse.
9. Assist with scoliosis screening under the direction of the nurse.
10. Prepare materials for bulletin boards and displays.
11. Assist with the care and inventory of equipment and supplies.
12. Perform other related duties as directed by the school nurse, school physician or dentist, and
building administrator.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the applicable
policies of the FRSD.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The
employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee occasionally is required to
lift and/or push up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance
vision and depth vision perception. Good hearing abilities required.
