Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and passionate People and Culture Coordinator to support our fun HR team in driving employee engagement and enhancing our workplace culture.

Every day, hundreds of children across Southeast Queensland, South Australia, and the ACT walk through our doors ready to learn, play, and grow. The people who make that possible? Our educators and centre teams — and you'd be the person who has their back.

As our People & Culture Coordinator, you won't just be processing and updating records (though yes, that's part of it). You'll be a trusted partner to Centre Directors, a go-to for HR advice, and a hands-on contributor to the culture that makes Edge a genuinely great place to work.

What your days will actually look like:

Your days will be varied and fast-moving. One morning you might be coaching a Centre Director through a tricky performance conversation; the afternoon could be spent refining our onboarding experience or rolling out a new wellbeing initiative.

You'll be the kind of person who answers the phone when a centre leader needs guidance, who spots a gap in a process and quietly fixes it, and who genuinely cares whether the people around them are thriving.

The work covers:

  • Supporting centre leaders with performance management, employee relations, and day-to-day HR queries
  • Drafting employment change letters, and statements of service
  • Keeping qualifications, certifications, and compliance requirements on track
  • Identifying and promoting professional development opportunities for our teams
  • Contributing to P&C projects alongside the People & Culture Manager
  • Staying across relevant awards, instruments (ECEC Multi-Employer Enterprise Agreement 2024–2026) and employment legislation

What you’ll bring:

  • 2+ years of generalist HR experience
  • Solid understanding of Australian employment law and Fair Work compliance
  • Confidence working autonomously in a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent communication skills — you're as comfortable with a difficult conversation as you are with a quick Teams message
  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • A current driver's licence is advantageous as some centre visits may be required
  • A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or the ability to get one
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, or similar (highly regarded)

Experience in early childhood is a bonus, not a must — we'll teach you the sector. What we can't teach is a genuine interest in people and a commitment to doing this work well.

Why Edge?

We're a growing organisation that was founded in 2017 and genuinely invests in our team. You'll join a small, collaborative P&C function where your ideas will actually land — not disappear into a committee. Plus:

  • Birthday leave (yes, really)
  • Salary sacrificing and financial wellbeing support through Sonder
  • Referral bonus scheme
  • Onsite flu vaccinations
  • Real professional development, not just the tick-the-box kind
