Description

Under the supervision of the Health & Well-being Leadership the Floor Staff is charged with effectively and safely supervising the Health & Well-being Center in accordance with the following policies established by the South Shore YMCA while also providing a high level of member service.


 


 

Requirements

         PROGRAM EXECUTION


  • Supervise all Health & Well-being activities while on duty.
  • Adhere to the training guidelines when screening and advising members on their fitness program.
  • Respond to incidents appropriately, calmly and professionally.
  • Follow and enforce Health & Well-being rules on and off duty.

  • Provide a welcoming environment for members, non-members, volunteers and staff.

  • Floor Staff will not leave the Health & Well-being Center unsupervised. Staff can only be relieved by other approved floor staff.

  • Record all incidents and accidents immediately after situation has been resolved and you will not be distracted from supervising the Center.(Report emergency immediately to supervisor on duty) 

 


          STAFF ENGAGEMENT AND TEAMWORK


  • Work with fellow SSYMCA staff members and treat them with respect.
  • Every Floor Staff has the responsibility of reviewing all guidelines for emergency procedures to ensure a prompt and appropriate response to any incident.
  • Attend all staff meetings and complete skill trainings.

 


           MEMBER ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT


  • Enforce all Health & Well-being rules in a consistent, fair and firm manner.
  • Interact with members in a friendly, engaging, and professional manner.
  • Educate members of all policies and procedures of the SSYMCA and the Health & Well-being Department when needed.
  • Be familiar with all information and answer questions about programs, schedules, and policies or direct people to Health & Well-being Directors.
  • Ensure that the South Shore YMCA Child Protection Policies are fulfilled.


        FACILITY MANAGEMENT


  • Maintain a clean and organized Health & Well-being Center environment.
  • Record and report any faulty equipment and/or lapse in maintenance to the supervisor on duty.
  • Take and record counts per department standards.

 


           VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT


  • Support volunteers and their daily functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Current Certifications:
    • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
    • Child Abuse Prevention
    • OSHA/Emergency procedures
    • Must be at least 16 years of age.
    • Previous Fitness experience preferref
    • Personal Training certificate preferred


 


 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.


While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, swim and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
