Job Title:            Asst. Manager Transportation


Reports to:         Manager Warehousing & Transportation


Role Type:          Individual Contributor


Location:            Chakan , Pune 


                               


Purpose of the role:


The Transportation Manager is an integral member of the Logistics Team and is responsible for directing the day-to-day execution of Pan India transportation function for SKF India (Industrial) Ltd.


This role will also have responsibility for ensuring the monthly financial performance is met and variances identified and addressed. This individual will also drive excellence in logistics delivery to minimize customer complaints to drive excellence in customer experience.


In addition, the selected individual will lead compliance to all existing processes, and alignment with Warehousing, Customer Service, Finance to ensure transportation needs & financial reporting are met and improved on.


Lead continuous improvement activities using SKF Production Systems tools and techniques to achieve benchmark level of operations.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Managing the daily operations of transportation, including coordinating routes, scheduling vehicles, and ensuring timely deliveries.

  • Monitoring and controlling transportation expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, driving projects to deliver spend reduction and optimizing the use of resources.

  • Staying updated on transportation regulations, obtaining necessary permits, and maintaining records to ensure compliance with government regulations.

  • Responsible for quality of deliveries to customers, ensure timely root cause analysis & implementation of corrective / preventive actions for delivery related customer complaints.

  • Drive Scope 3 emission reduction in logistics delivery through load optimization, alternative energy implementation in transportation etc. to enable meet SKF sustainability targets

  • Participate in procurement strategies for all Transportation categories.

  • Monitor and control the performance of external Carriers and the impact to cost using Contractual Relationships.

  • Drive the necessary improvements that impact the productivity of transportation spending categories.

  • Handle the customer Return process (RET) effectively to ensure timely return of materials from customers & closing them within stipulated timeline in system

  • Monitor transport compliance using Transportation Management system (TMS) to ensure goods are delivered & revenue is recognized in a timely manner, transporter bills are cleared without any pendency to ensure optimal working capital management


Key Performance areas:


Lead time compliance for deliveries to customers, logistics spend & cost savings, customer complaints from logistics (DER), Scope 3 emissions, compliance to financial indicators like timely provisioning, transporter bill clearance, customer return (RET) process


Profile Requirements



  • A bachelor's degree in logistics, engineering, business management, or a related area.

  • A solid understanding of the logistics and transportation industry.

  • Experience in problem solving skills & handling transportation related customer complaints

  • Skills for critical thinking and understanding of analytics.

  • Experience working using transport systems (TMS) as well as software for warehouse management

  • Ability to work under pressure & collaborate well with colleagues and manage difficult situations.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and persuasive skills

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and act in a proactive manner
