Description

See the world (or at least the East Coast) this summer by joining the Audio-Video-Lighting (AVL) Installation team at Pierson Computing Connection, Inc., a woman-owned technology services company in Mechanicsburg, PA. This is a seasonal-only position starting in May 2026 and ending as late as August 28, 2026.


The AVL Installation team installs AVL technology primarily throughout the East Coast in school districts, hospitals, and other non-residential settings. They also assist our ProAVL team in installing cool ProAVL technology in professional, college, and high school sports stadiums, houses of worship, Esports arenas, etc.


This is not an internship, but a summer work opportunity and a chance to explore a new career field. 


All Expenses Paid: Pierson pays for your hotel, travel time, and meals (reimbursed $40 per night per diem).


Travel: This position is generally away on installation projects Monday through Friday. Friday morning is usually a travel day, with arrival back in Mechanicsburg around midday.


Hourly Rate: $18-$20, depending on experience. No experience = $18 per hour. 


No Experience Necessary: All training is provided.


Have Fun: While you are away on a project, you do you on your off-time: go to the beach, a casino, hit up the hotel gym or pool, or visit local historical sites. Our teams enjoy their downtime on the road. Just be ready to work the next shift fully functional.


Job Description
As part of a team, AVL Installation Tech Apprentices assist with installing digital technology, such as interactive white boards and flat panels, classroom projectors, and sound systems. Pierson will provide the training and the tools required to be successful. 


Job duties include the following:

  • Deployment and distribution of materials.
  • Staging, unpacking product, attaching brackets, and installation and documentation of low-voltage cabling.
  • Assisting with hanging panels and AV cart assembly.
  • Trash collection, sorting, and disposal.
  • Cleaning company vehicles.


All AVL Installation positions have variable hours, Monday through Friday up to 40 hours a week. These positions require travel to Pierson’s clients primarily throughout the East Coast, with overnight stays three to four consecutive nights. AV Installation Tech Apprentices are paid for all travel and installation time, plus all expenses and meals are covered by Pierson. Company vehicles are used for all travel. 


Position Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old or older due to travel and driving responsibilities.
  • Able to proficiently use power tools.
  • Able to travel overnight for three to four consecutive nights, generally Monday through Thursday. Schedules vary based on client requirements and are communicated in advance.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to pass a drug test and federal and PA State Police background/criminal history checks,* and a PA child abuse clearance at Pierson’s expense.
    *At minimum, no misdemeanors in the past 5 years, no felonies in the past 10 years, and no violations described in Section 111 of the Pennsylvania Public School Code of 1949. Exclusions and exceptions apply.

  • Able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must live within commuting distance of Mechanicsburg, PA.

 

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds to chest height.
  • Able to push or pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Able to walk 5-10 miles per day.
  • Able to work up to 12 hours per day inside and outside in all weather conditions.
