Innovation Hub Overview

Jefferies is creating a Technology Innovation Hub in Pune, a greenfield opportunity to build the systems that power global markets. As our first India technology center, this hub brings together hands on builders who engineer the platforms behind Jefferies’ growth across capital markets, investment banking, and institutional securities. We’re scaling toward an elite team of 500 engineers while maintaining the agility, ownership, and meritocratic spirit that defines Jefferies. From cloud and data to AI, risk, and core business technologies, teams in Pune will lead high impact work with a global mandate.

IT Corporate Technology

Corporate Technology powers Jefferies’ enterprise operations, enabling front-, middle-, and back-office teams to run efficiently, securely, and in compliance at scale. The group delivers and supports integrated platforms across HR, Finance, Compliance & Legal, Treasury, Client Onboarding, Operations, Centralized Data Services, Regulatory Reporting, Loan Operations, and FX Trading, while also leading firmwide digitalization initiatives focused on automation and process efficiency.

The team uses modern technology stack—including AWS and Azure, Snowflake, Qlik Sense, and best-in-class vendor solutions—to build next-generation capabilities in AI/ML, enterprise analytics, and process automation (RPA and low-code/no-code). Roles in Corporate Technology offer hands-on work with cloud, data, and automation platforms, close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, and end-to-end exposure to how a global financial services firm operates.

Role: Financial Crime Development Lead Role Overview

The Technical Lead owns the stability and delivery of mission-critical platforms, with a focus on AWS-hosted and hybrid Oracle workloads, API-led integration, and Python-based automation. This role sets technical direction and provides hands-on oversight across platform engineering, reliability, data integration, and release management—partnering with global teams to build resilient, secure, and scalable solutions in a highly regulated environment. Experience with Oracle FCCM / Financial Crime platforms (AML, KYC) is ideal as the candidate will lead Oracle FCCM development team valued but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development for Oracle FCCM ( Mantas) business-critical applications across AWS and hybrid infrastructure (including Oracle-based systems).
  • Own production stability, performance, observability, and incident/problem management; drive SLOs/SLAs, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Design and deliver integrations using RESTful APIs and event/batch patterns; partner with upstream/downstream teams to define contracts, data mappings, and non-functional requirements.
  • Govern release management, patching, upgrades, and environment strategy across Oracle middleware/database and AWS-hosted components.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex production issues across platform components; coordinate triage across engineering, infrastructure, and vendors.
  • Lead and develop a team of 5–10 technology professionals based in India; set standards for engineering quality.
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk, and Audit to support controls, evidence, reviews, and regulatory expectations for technology platforms.
  • Develop Python-based automation and tooling (e.g., operational runbooks, data validation, API clients, batch orchestration) and contribute to CI/CD where applicable.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering / platform engineering in enterprise environments, owning production systems end-to-end.
  • Good AWS experience in hybrid environments, including compute, storage, monitoring, security/IAM, and operational best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle technologies (Oracle Database and related tooling), including performance troubleshooting, patching, and upgrade planning.
  • Advanced SQL / PL/SQL proficiency and strong troubleshooting skills across data pipelines and batch processing.
  • Experience designing and supporting API-based integrations (REST/JSON), including versioning, authentication/authorization, and operational support.
  • Python development experience for automation, integration, and operational tooling (e.g., scripting, data validation, job orchestration).

Very Desirable

  • Oracle FCCM experience (e.g., AML / Transaction Monitoring / Sanctions / Customer Screening), including configuration, tuning, and case management workflows.
  • Financial Crime, AML, and KYC domain knowledge (regulatory drivers, typologies, investigative workflows).
  • Oracle Mantas (KYC) or similar financial crime platforms.

Leadership & Behavioral Competencies

  • Strong people leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Sound judgment balancing regulatory compliance and delivery pragmatism.
  • Effective communicator with senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness under regulatory scrutiny, including audits and exams.
