Job Description

Description

This position is responsible for performing day-to-day activities related to production of boards.  This includes monitoring the production process and operating equipment, producing orders according to plan, understanding all stations of the press area, tracking semi-finished and finished materials from the beginning of the process through the end by way of computer, visual inspection, monitoring materials for quality and ensuring proper function, cleaning and minor maintenance of equipment and areas of the plant as required. 

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  • Mechanical education/certification an asset

  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot and adjust equipment throughout the press line and outfeed
  • Visually and manually inspect and test boards and materials to meet quality expectations
  • Train with vendors and QPL on equipment operation
  • Assist with training of new employees
  • Identify root cause of issues during production and document issue on action logs
  • Follow up on issues assigned to this position through the action log
  • Work closely with quality department to resolve quality issues of product
  • Remove excess material from the line
  • Communicate with all team members regarding daily production, quality and safety issues
  • Understand computer programs to monitor, research, and track orders
  • Work with press support in crossover areas of production
  • Understand process flow of material for press department
  • Help maintain all equipment and systems of the production line
  • Cross-train in the lab & QAT to serve as a back-up when needed
  • Operate fork-truck and other equipment required to produce MDF
  • Safely operate a chainsaw for cutting reject board
  • Participate in maintenance and cleaning duties during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance times
  • Train with the objective of becoming a competent Press Operator
  • Performs other duties as assigned
