About the Department

JOIN THE SPOKANE CITY SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DEPARTMENT AND TURN WASTE TO ENERGY! 

The City of Spokane Solid Waste Disposal Department is looking for temp-seasonal workers to be a part of our winning team, contributing to the success of our city.

JOIN THE SPOKANE CITY SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DEPARTMENT AND TURN WASTE TO ENERGY!

Currently staffing variable shifts between 7:15 am - 5:45 pm, 7 days/week.

Position Duties

The following Responsibilities and Requirements are functions the individual who holds or desires the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.

Performs daily operation at the Waste to Energy Scale House that may include but are not limited to:
  • Assist permanent employees
  • Use a computer program to weigh in private and commercial customers dumping various types of material
  • Collect various types of payments
  • Balance cash drawer
  • Answer questions for the public and other City employees in person and on the phone

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have cash handling/cashiering experience
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must have above average communication and customer service skills

DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be dependable
  • Must be able to work well with others
  • Must be willing to work weekends
  • Must have reliable mode of transportation to get to work and perform job duties
