Bus Monitor
School days position
7.75 hours/day
Approximate hours: 6:25am-8:55am, 9:45am-11:45am, 1:30pm-4:45pm

Duties:

• Assist driver and student in proper loading and unloading of the bus, including securing wheelchair, car seat, seat belt and harnesses.
• Manage student behavior using appropriate discipline techniques, maintaining interaction with the drivers to mutually enforce bus rules.
• Inform the driver or transportation department of concerns or issues with students.
• Work with the driver to develop a safe evacuation plan and maintain the physical ability to evacuate students in case of an emergency.

Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or GED required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, bend, stoop, squat, reach, stand, sit, push, pull
• Experience working with special education students is preferred
• Preference will be given to current SEIU Local 284 unit members
