About CanadianSIM
CanadianSIM is Canada’s largest pre-arrival wireless provider, helping international students, workers, and new immigrants get connected before they land. We’re a Rogers/Fido/Chatr authorized dealer with airport presence across multiple Canadian cities and an ecommerce platform serving customers globally. We’ve been operating since 2005 and are entering our biggest growth phase yet.
The Role
You are the first person a newcomer meets when they land in Canada.
Thousands of international students and new immigrants arrive at Pearson every month. Many have already purchased a plan from us online. Your job is to welcome them, set up their device, and make sure they walk out of the airport fully connected. For those who haven’t purchased yet, you are the last chance to close the sale — face to face, in the moment, when they need it most.
This is not a kiosk job where you wait for people to walk up. You will actively identify arriving newcomers, greet them by name when possible, unbox and set up devices, upsell accessories, and capture insights from every conversation that help us improve the entire pre-arrival experience. You are equal parts salesperson, brand ambassador, and customer success.
We are hiring 4 reps across both terminals at Pearson, working in rotating shifts to cover peak arrival windows.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome newcomers arriving at Pearson — many will already be in our system with a plan purchased pre-arrival. Greet them, confirm their setup, troubleshoot any issues on the spot.
- Close walk-up sales for newcomers who don’t yet have a Canadian plan. These are impulse decisions — the student just landed, their phone doesn’t work, and you’re standing there with the solution.
- Unbox and set up devices for customers who purchased a smartphone through us. Walk them through their new phone, transfer contacts, install essential apps. Make the experience feel premium.
- Sell devices to customers who arrived with an incompatible phone. Our zero-down smartphone offers are positioned as a service upgrade, not a sale. Same monthly price, new phone, done.
- Upsell accessories: cases, chargers, screen protectors. Every device customer should leave with a complete package.
- Capture insights from every conversation: “What almost stopped you from buying?” “Did you consider other providers?” “How did you hear about us?” Feed this back to leadership weekly.
- Identify travel companions who are not in our system. The student’s friend, roommate, or partner standing next to them is your next customer.
- Coordinate with the pre-arrival sales team on arriving customers: who is expected today, what did they purchase, do they need a device pickup.
- Maintain device inventory at your terminal: count stock daily, flag when inventory drops below threshold, stage devices for expected arrivals.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of experience in retail sales, airport retail, or any face-to-face selling environment
- You enjoy talking to people. This role is 8 hours of human interaction. If that drains you, this isn’t the right fit.
- Comfortable selling — not just serving. You will actively approach people, start conversations, and close deals. This is not order-taking.
- Can work rotating shifts covering peak arrival windows at Pearson. This includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Flights don’t stop on holidays.
- Reliable transportation to Pearson Airport for every shift
- Comfortable handling device setup: SIM insertion, eSIM activation, data transfer, basic phone troubleshooting. We will train you on our systems and products — but you should be the kind of person who figures out tech quickly.
- Can work on your feet for a full shift in a fast-paced airport environment
- Multilingual is a significant advantage. Our customers arrive from 160+ countries.
Strong Assets
- Prior experience in airport retail, duty-free, or travel retail environments
- Experience selling wireless plans, phones, or electronics
- Speaks Hindi, Punjabi, Tagalog, Portuguese, French, Yoruba, Igbo, or Mandarin
- Familiarity with eSIM activation or smartphone setup
- Experience with inventory management or stock counting
What We Offer
- $20 an hour + commission on every device and accessory sale
- Full product and systems training provided — no prior telecom experience required
- You work at one of the busiest international airports in North America. The foot traffic is constant and the customers are real.
- Direct impact on the business. Your sales numbers, your customer insights, and your feedback shape how the entire company operates.
- Growth path: top performers move into team lead, airport operations management, or transition into our pre-arrival sales team as the business scales
How to Apply
Send your resume and a brief note answering one question:
“A student just landed from Nigeria. Their phone isn’t working. They look overwhelmed. What do you do in the first 60 seconds?”
