Job Description

ARCHITECTURAL INTERN – FALL 2026
Do you want to help shape the architecture of the future? Schmidt Hammer Lassen is looking for talented and motivated architecture students who are ready to challenge their creativity in practice. As an intern with us, you will become part of a project team, where you can expect to work with, among other things, competitions, concept/early sketch proposals, and the first stages of design development. At Schmidt Hammer Lassen, we design both new build and transform/restore what already exists. Right now, our projects range from the restoration of the Danish National Bank to integrated masterplans and urban development, to the new extension to ARoS in collaboration with the American artist James Turèll.

We take pride in learning from one another, and one of the core elements is our internship program, SHL Learn. From the start, you will be assigned a mentor who will support you throughout the internship, and we encourage you to ask questions, contribute your ideas, and challenge us with your knowledge. In addition, the program includes introductory days, professional Learning Sessions, and study trips. During your internship, you will be part of a strong social and professional community, both across SHL and within an internal community dedicated to our interns.

Our DNA
We work purposefully to create architecture that makes a positive contribution to the environment, society, and the individual. We adapt our projects to their surroundings and aim to strengthen the connection between the place and the people who will use it. For us, good architecture is about creating places where people want to spend time. We strive to design places with cultural resonance. We do this by understanding and respecting the context in which we build, both the physical environment and the cultural conditions. We therefore always aim for solutions that are sustainable and built to last - socially, environmentally, and economically.

We hope you have…

  • Strong design skills and familiarity with Rhino.
  • A good eye for graphic design and strong skills in Adobe CC.
  • Knowledge of Revit, Grasshopper, or AutoCAD is an advantage.
  • A good work ethic and a desire to be part of a project team.
  • The ability to work in English, as we have many international employees.

Practical information
The internship runs from 24 August 2026 to 15 January 2027 at our brand-new studio in Copenhagen NV. It is 37 hours/week, and we offer a lunch scheme as well as a financial allowance in accordance with current rules. It is required that you are enrolled as an architecture student (or equivalent).
