Job Description

Summary:                    Processes aircraft parts through chemical procedures in accordance with customer and company specifications and requirements while following company policies and using proper personal protective equipment.



This position has no supervisory responsibilities.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Positions and secures aircraft parts or components to part rack.

  • Measures and records thickness of parts using measuring instruments.

  • Processes parts through multi-step chem milling procedures.

  • Ensures tank temperatures are correct and all gauges are working properly.

  • Accurately tracks the amount of time parts are in tank.

  • Ensures electric hoists are working properly.

  • Ensure that all tanks are operated at the proper levels.

  • Assist Chemist in adding product to tanks as needed.

  • Records job information in ERP system.

  • Properly documents travelers, process logs, recorder charts and tank information.

  • Perform any surface preparations prior to and after processing.

  • Inspects work pieces for defects to ensure that parts meet specifications.

  • Safely operates all equipment and follows all PPE requirements.

  • Monitors processes to ensure each tank is functioning properly.

  • Must be able to use measuring devices and various hand tools.

  • Use tooling provided to properly scribe and seal parts.

  • Uses spark checker to check parts for pinholes and patch as necessary.

  • Maintain traceability throughout the process.

  • Evaluate workmanship for part quality and document any discrepancies.

  • Perform OJT’s as needed to ensure co-workers are properly trained.



Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

  • Previous related experience preferred.

  • US Citizen or Permeant Resident (ITAR requirement)

  • Must be able to wear approved respirator and any other personal protective equipment as required.

  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.

  • Must be able to accurately read shop traveler instructions.

  • Ability to safely use hand tools.

  • Ability to apply basic math, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to safely and properly use gauges calipers, and other tools and equipment.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.

  • Ability to identify proper materials and supplies according to specifications.

  • Team player with a strong desire to work in a fast-paced, professional environment.

  • Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with management and co-workers; listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed.

  • Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.

  • Ability to follow priorities and plan work activities; use time efficiently; and work within deadlines.



Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to speak effectively in front of customers or employees.  Ability to read, write and understand the English language.  Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with customers, management and co-workers and the ability to listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed. 



Mathematical Skills:  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.



Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.   Ability to read, analyze and interpret simple instructions, work orders, and technical procedures.  Ability to read and understand blue prints and specifications.  Ability to research and resolve issues relating to projects.  Ability to perform repetitive mental functions.
