Job Description

Education & Youth Development Programs: CAMBA operates more than 20 after school and summer camp programs in New York City, serving over 10,000 elementary and middle school children. This programming includes supper and socialization; homework help; science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); literacy enrichment; recreation activities; conflict resolution; clubs; and community circle. Programs operate during the school year, in the summer, and on most school holidays.

 

What does the Assistant Youth Facilitator do:

  • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy policies to protect the confidentiality of individual health information.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all participants by following program protocols and procedures, including supervision, accident and incident reporting.
  • Participate in daily Five-Minute Meetings (FMM) before the start of each session to review the day’s plan and assigned responsibilities.
  • Support participants in following program guidelines and expectations.
  • Assist program leaders and specialists in implementing and documenting program-wide incentive systems.
  • Supervise participants in hallways, restrooms, and classrooms to maintain a safe environment.
  • Take daily attendance and assist with tracking participant engagement.
  • Help with classroom and activity setup before and after sessions.
  • Distribute, collect, and store instructional materials, sports equipment, and games.
  • Support individuals or groups in completing activities to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Follow procedures for arrival and dismissal, snack distribution, transitions, and trip guidelines.
  • Assist in the facilitation of club activities and enrichment sessions.
  • Operate learning aids such as projectors, recorders, or other instructional technology.
  • Prepare and organize materials and supplies for activities as needed.
  • Adjust to evolving program needs and take on additional tasks as assigned.
  • Tasks may be modified, expanded, and/or assigned over time to meet program needs.
