Controls Electrician (EL01 Journeyman) - Swing Shift

Cheney, Washington

Night Shift | Monday-Thursday | 3:45 PM - 1:45 AM
4-day work week | Paid lunch + 5% shift differential

About Haakon

Haakon is an established industrial manufacturer known for quality, reliability, and long-term stability. We build real equipment, solve real problems, and take pride in the work we do.

Our culture is built on accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and ownership. This is a place for people who want to grow, contribute, and master their craft.

About the Role

We are hiring a Controls Electrician (EL01 Journeyman) to support the build, wiring, testing, and commissioning of custom HVAC equipment in a manufacturing environment.

This role is heavily focused on electrical controls, not just basic power wiring. You will be working with low voltage systems, sensors, relays, and control components that are built and tested in-house.

This role requires precision, troubleshooting ability, and a strong understanding of how electrical systems function together.

What You Will Do

• Wire and assemble electrical control systems for custom-built equipment
• Work with low voltage systems including relays, transformers, temperature and speed sensors
• Read and interpret wiring schematics and line diagrams
• Perform electrical testing and verification using QC checklists and ETL requirements
• Conduct airflow testing and system validation
• Program and troubleshoot VFDs (major plus)
• Bend conduit and install components to code
• Troubleshoot wiring and control issues during build and testing
• Support final inspection and ETL labeling processes
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Work independently and collaborating with the team

What the Work Is Like

This is not repetitive production wiring.

Each unit is built in-house and can vary. Some days are smooth builds. Other days require troubleshooting controls issues while production depends on you.

The work is hands-on, detailed, and requires focus and ownership.

Who Succeeds Here

People who succeed in this role are calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and take pride in doing clean, accurate work.

They understand how electrical systems work together, not just how to wire them.

They communicate well, stay steady when problems arise, and take ownership of their work.

What We Are Looking For

• EL01 Journeyman Electrician (required)
• Experience in electrical controls and low voltage systems
• Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and line diagrams
• Strong understanding of multiple voltage systems, wiring methods, and testing practices
• Experience with relays, transformers, and sensors
• Conduit bending and working knowledge of electrical code
• Strong troubleshooting ability
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Experience

• VFD programming and troubleshooting
• Experience with ETL or similar inspection standards
• 5+ years of journeyman experience

Work Environment

This is a fully indoor manufacturing environment with hands-on electrical work and testing.

The role involves standing, moving, and working with tools and equipment throughout the shift.

Compensation

$38.00 to $46.00 per hour starting range, depending on experience and demonstrated controls ability.

This role is part of a broader electrician pay band. Employees who develop strong controls knowledge, troubleshooting ability, and ownership progress toward the upper end of the range over time.

This pay information is provided in compliance with Washington State requirements. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Benefits

• 100 percent employer-paid medical and dental coverage
• Stable, full-time work with consistent hours
• Paid time off and paid holidays
• 4-day work week with 3-day weekends
• Paid lunch on night shift
• 5% night shift differential
• Additional PTO eligibility after one year (night shift)
• Opportunity to learn, grow, and advance
• Additional benefits details will be provided during the hiring process

Important Requirements

This is a safety-sensitive position.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role safely
• Must follow all company safety policies and procedures
