Maintenance Helper
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Helper supports the Maintenance Engineer in performing routine repairs, preventive maintenance, and the general upkeep of facilities, equipment, and buildings. This role assists with a variety of tasks essential to the overall operation of a private recreational facility, helping to ensure a safe, clean, and fully functional environment for members and staff.
In addition to supporting daily maintenance activities, the Maintenance Helper may be assigned independent projects and is expected to complete them efficiently and in accordance with established standards.
Reports to: Maintenance Engineer
Supervises: No one
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous maintenance or general labor experience is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Essential Functions
- Assist with general maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC suppor.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and facilities to identify issues.
- Complete basic repairs such as replacing light bulbs, fixing leaks, painting, and minor carpentry work.
- Maintain cleanliness of maintenance areas, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Help move, install, or repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and materials.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more.
- Bending, lifting, squatting, pulling, walking, standing for extended periods of time and pushing.
- Ability to work indoors and outside when needed in varying conditions.
- Working indoors and occasionally outdoors in hot, humid weather.
