Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Fire Chief, the Firefighter performs firefighting, emergency care, participates in public education activities and/or fire prevention activities, cares for station, fire apparatus and related fire equipment and participates in training activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responds to fire and other emergency situations.
- Operates fire equipment and assists in the suppression of fires.
- Assists with fire prevention activities.
- May administer first aid.
- Tests and maintains a wide variety of fire equipment.
- Maintains fire engine.
- Maintains monthly safety inspection records.
- Maintains a vehicle mileage log.
- Maintains fire station and grounds and facilities maintenance.
- Answers telephone and radio equipment as necessary.
- Participates in related training programs and drills and may train subordinate staff and community members.
- Identifies potential fire hazards and suggests processes for mitigation.
- Other related duties as assigned.
