Job Description

POSITION GOAL:

The Construction Engineer Associate llI will perform intermediate to advanced-level engineering duties associated with the construction of civil engineering projects. This position will support all aspects of construction projects for roadways, bridges, utilities, sewers, facilities, etc.; perform oversight and inspection of contractor activities; interpret plans and specifications and ensure work is performed in accordance with them; document field activities; measure and calculate quantities of work completed; observe materials testing and ensure proper materials are incorporated into the work. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - GENERAL

•    Possesses foundational engineering concepts

•    Acquires intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills through mentored experience

•    Evaluates and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment 

•    Performs work assignments of moderate to advanced complexity; Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes

•    Receives instruction on specific objectives and direction on possible solutions to unconventional or complex problems

•    Works as part of a team and coordinates work with others

•    Typically receives moderate supervision on most aspects of assignments and a general review of all aspects of work

•    Possesses proficient oral and written communication skills

•    Interacts with both internal project team members as well as direct communication with clients or other stakeholders

•    Adheres to project deadlines and keeps the task manager informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments

•    Performs review of own work before submitting to the next level for review

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – SPECIFIC

•    Understands and interprets project plans and specifications

•    Performs daily inspection and/or oversight of contractor’s activities to ensure all work is performed in accordance with the project plans and specifications

•    Documents field activities and submits daily reports

•    Measures and calculates quantities of completed work

•    Observes materials testing at a construction site

•    Ensures proper materials are incorporated into the work

•    Reports task related information to the Project Lead

•    Performs/assists with schedule review, submittal review, RFI responses, and maintaining project records and filing system

•    May assist the Project Lead with other duties as assigned
