Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Volunteer Coordinator shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. 

This position provides coordinating and administrative support to the Glen Eyrie and Eagle Lake volunteers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administration [70% of time]

  • Processes volunteer applications and coordinates volunteer interviews, including but not limited to scheduling, orientations, and reference checks. 
  • Maintains the volunteer database and create, manage, and organize office files.  Composes and sends communications to the volunteers. 
  • Receives, handles and transfers phone calls, emails and messages within the department promptly and courteously. 
  • Processes and responds to requests for information in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Enters volunteer hours into the database and compiles monthly hours report
  • Schedules educational tours
  • Assists in departmental marketing by updating the department website and promotional materials
  • Coordinates the Madrigal (Glen Eyrie Christmas event) volunteer application and scheduling process.
  • Assists in coordination of GSP housing and meals
  • Schedules events such as SOWER breakfasts, appreciation luncheons, trainings, and recruitment events
  • Administrative responsibilities, including preparing letters, mailings, and reports in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Performs the administrative functions relating to on campus housing for staff and volunteers

Volunteers (25% of time)

  • Coordinates requests for volunteers from Glen Eyrie and Eagle Lake Camp Departments and assists in assigning volunteers to meet the needs. 
  • Stocks and maintains snacks and drinks for volunteer lounge.
  • Creates a positive and welcoming environment for all volunteers, guests, and staff who enter or call
  • Assists with service exchange groups by coordinating safety briefing and delivering water/snacks when necessary

Additional Responsibilities (5% of time)

  • Participate in Navigators’ on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings, or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
  • Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization, and other releases as required.
  • Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.

Experience: This role requires strong organization & time management skills with an emphasis on customer service. At least 3 years of experience in administrative or volunteer coordinating role preferred.    

Technical Knowledge & Skills:  Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. 

Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong working relationships required.

Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Compensation: $17.00-21.00 hourly
