The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Research Support Assistant position. Seeking a self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented individual for full-time employment. This individual will work at the Division's Substance Treatment and Research Service (STARS) facility located at 3 Columbus Circle under the supervision of Amy Mahony, LMHC as an employee of the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH). The individual will work some evening and weekend hours. This individual must possess excellent organizational skills, exercise good judgment and the ability to work without continuous supervision in a research setting with ongoing clinical trials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This Research Assistant will be involved in a number of clinical trials that evaluate the effectiveness of medications for treating substance use disorders. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1) subject recruitment
2) conducting telephone screening interviews
3) implementing research studies described in the funded grants as approved by the IRB
4) maintaining case reports forms
5) data maintenance/entry, helping with data analysis and graphics
6) maintaining study supplies and equipment
7) scheduling participant appointments
8) administering selected study instruments and coordinate self-report instruments
9) drawing blood (will be trained if not already a certified phlebotomist), perform urine drug screens, vital signs and EKGs
10) handling IRB and NIH correspondence
11) assisting with grant and manuscript preparation
12) assisting with hospital admissions and discharges
13) running of patients on the in-patient unit.
The Research Assistant will also be involved in additional duties associated with technical assistance in training activities related to Opioid Use Disorder and other Substance Use. These include, but are not limited to:
1) administrative support tasks (managing day-to-day logistics for meetings, coordinating/scheduling and documenting meetings, providing drafts of minutes for meetings)
2) participating in development of training curricula, 3) conducting literature searches and synthesize information for opioid use disorders and other related topics, and 5) provide direct administrative support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Must be certified in phlebotomy or willing to obtain certification before drawing any blood samples.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be well-organized and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Flexible work schedule and the ability to travel between research sites.
- Must be meticulous in carrying out research protocols and enjoy working with human subjects.
- Must be familiar with various software programs (e.g. Excel, Word, RedCap).
- At least (1) year of experience in behavioral science and/or human subjects research strongly preferred.
