About The Role

Under the direction of the administrator and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Ingham Intermediate Board of Education, evaluates children referred as potentially eligible for special education services and programs.

  • Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team and assists in the comprehensive assessment of students suspected of having a disability as outlined in the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education. 
  • Collaborates with local district administrators and school-based leadership teams on MTSS activities.  This includes participation in problem-solving teams and requires knowledge of data collection and analysis, curriculum-based assessments and tiered systems of interventions.   
  • Supports staff in identifying and using researched-based instructional practices. 

About You

  • Approval by the Michigan Department of Education as a School Psychologist.
  • Master's Degree in Educational Psychology and/or School Psychology. 
  • 750 hour internship in School Psychology.

POSITION #:
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the administrator and in accordance with the
established policies and procedures of the Ingham Intermediate Board of Education, evaluates

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team and assists in the
comprehensive assessment of students suspected of having a disability as outlined in the
Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education.
2. Collaborates with local district administrators and school-based leadership teams on MTSS
activities. This includes participation in problem-solving teams and requires knowledge of
data collection and analysis, curriculum-based assessments and tiered systems of
interventions.
3. Supports staff in identifying and using researched-based instructional practices.
4. Consults with staff and parents regarding behavioral and academic intervention plans.
5. Serves as a member of the Individual Educational Planning Team to assist in the
determination of eligibility, placement, and development of the Individualized Educational
Plan.
6. Upon request, provides professional learning and consultative services to local educational
staff.
7. Assumes such other duties as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Approval by the Michigan Department of Education as a School Psychologist.
2. Master's Degree in Educational Psychology and/or School Psychology.
3. 750 hour internship in School Psychology.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED (continued):
4. Knowledge and skills commonly used in psychological evaluation and consultation including
the understanding and ability to determine the eligibility of Specific Learning Disability using
a Response to Intervention approach.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form to multiple audiences.
6. Knowledge of the requirements of state and federal mandates which directly relate to the
evaluation and identification of a student with a disability.
7. Strong analytical skills are required to correctly analyze, interpret and report quantitative
and qualitative data.
8. Demonstrated understanding of the logic and application of an MTSS/RtI model and the
continuum of behavior and academic supports at all levels (universal/targeted/intensive).
9. Expertise in assessment including curriculum-based assessment measurement and
diagnostic practices.
10. Ability to collect, analyze and use data and research within a strategic planning and
continuous improvement process and/or intervention planning.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Adequate facilities in which to conduct psychological assessment of individual children.
2. Shared office and instructional space with other staff.
3. Requires daily travel.
