Description

 The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for managing the flow of medical documentation to support patient care and internal operations. Key responsibilities include obtaining and preparing medical records in advance of patient appointments, fulfilling incoming and outgoing medical record requests, and accurately scanning and assigning documents in the electronic medical record system. The role involves regular communication with internal teams to address record needs and ensure timely processing. 


Job Duties 

  • Obtain medical records proactively in preparation of patient encounters and in accordance with organizational policies and guidelines  
  • Complete incoming and outgoing medical record requests as assigned 
  • Work in the Fax Inbox reviewing documents, assigning them to the correct patients and staff members, as assigned  
  • Communicate with all internal teams regarding medical record needs and requests 
  • Scan medical record documents into the electronic medical record as assigned  
  • Conduct all responsibilities and tasks in compliance with HIPAA standards 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

 Education and Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Medical records experience- 1 year preferred

Job knowledge and skills 

  • Previous Experience as a Medical Record Clerk or Specialist is preferred 
  • Clinical knowledge is preferred  
  • Medical Terminology knowledge is preferred  
  • Detail-Oriented  
  • Organized and able to work in a methodical manner  
  • Comfortable with high volume of patient encounters and requests
