Job Brief
Our summer camp is seeking creative, compassionate paraeducators who enjoy being part of a supportive camp community and working with students with special needs.
This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a team environment and are passionate about helping campers continue to grow academically, socially, and emotionally during the summer months.
We strive to create a dynamic camp experience that balances structure with creativity. Our team works collaboratively to ensure campers who benefit from consistency and support continue building skills while enjoying an engaging summer program.
Responsibilities
- Reinforce academic and functional learning skills in a fun, camp-based setting
- Provide positive behavior support and encourage social development
- Support teaching activities led by certified teachers
- Assist campers with varying abilities with structured and engaging programming lead by teacher
- Support students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and transitions
- Assist with clerical duties as needed
- Provide support with personal needs when required
- Maintain confidentiality and attend required in-service training
- Follow all USD 383 policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Teacher, Camp Director, or Special Education Supervisor
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 48 college credit hours OR successful completion of the Master Teacher Para Assessment Test
- Previous experience working with students with special needs is highly recommended
- Ability to pass a background check (required for all USD 383 employees) ? Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required
Work Schedule
- One orientation day will be scheduled prior to camp (may include afternoon/evening hours)
- Session 1 is June 8 - June 26
- Session 2 is June 29 - July 17
- Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm.
- 40 hours per week, 6 weeks Average workday: 8 hours
