Description

Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of all residents care information. Ensure that the residents’ rights are being upheld according to the Residents Bill of Rights.
  • Report all resident, staff and safety events.  Complete Event form as instructed. Forward Event form to the charge nurse.   
  • Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to charge nurse and complete maintenance request form.
  • Follow infection control and isolation procedure and policies as established by the facility.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living and provide personal care as taught in Certified Nurse Assistant Training Course per Knife River Care Center procedure manual.
  • Record all pertinent activities of daily living in the electronic health record to signify resident care given.  Record any behaviors as appropriate and report them to the nurse.
  • Report all changes in resident's condition to the charge nurse as soon as practical so that assessment can be done and appropriate information entered on the care plan.
  • Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident to the charge nurse.
  • Review care plans to determine if changes in the resident's care routine have been made.  Provide care accordingly.
  • Must know and practice good body mechanics when bending, lifting, and moving throughout the day. Wears and uses gait belt.
  • Report any incidents of verbal, sexual, physical or mental abuse to Administrator immediately.
  • Must adhere to staff safety policies as outlined.  Follows policies and procedures for resident safety.  Attends annual safety inservice.
  • Must become competent in EHR documentation for all resident care.  Documentation needs to be ongoing throughout the day to accurately reflect the cares that are completed.

Other Duties

  • Follows proper use of all hazardous chemicals as instructed in Hazardous Chemical In-service and manual.
  • Know location of emergency equipment.  Follows procedures in Disaster policy manual under the direction of the charge nurse.
  • Have knowledge and proper usage of telephone and intercoms system.
  • Assist with other related duties as requested by the Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing, Resident Care Coordinator, or Director of Nursing.

Requirements

Must be a Certified Nurse-Assistant listed on the registry of the North Dakota State Health Department or be in the process of completing a 75 hour North Dakota State Health Dept. approved training course and waiting for testing to be certified.
