Position Duties

  • Educate participants on proper swim techniques, promote swimmer safety, and teach new skills.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to age, experience, and ability of participants to meet level objectives.
  • Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with department guidelines, prepare lesson plans accordingly, maintain reports, and support members and program participants in achieving their goals.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all forms of communications, such as in-person and emails.
  • Ability to be punctual, organized, approachable, and energetic.
  • Preferred: previous coaching our swim instruction experience. 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 16 years old (Don't meet the age requirement?! Email us to inquire about our junior swim instructor program).
  • A minimum of 15 hours of weekly availability. Must be available to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training.
    • Mandatory training will be scheduled in early June before the start of the program session. 
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies, communicating quickly and effectively provide emergency response.
  • Ability to swim and knows all four competitive swim strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly).
