HEAD COACH GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
To provide overall supervision for all aspects of the sports program including but not limited to:
- Select players for the team
- Maintain team discipline
- Maintain WIAA standards
- Coaching individual participants in skills necessary to achieve excellence in sport
- Modeling and encouraging good sportsmanship
- Explaining eligibility requirements and participation rules to student athletes
- Providing requested information to the athletics coordinator
- Maintaining equipment inventory and upkeep
- Scheduling practices
- Overseeing safety; recordkeeping as required
- Overseeing transportation arrangements for team members.
Start Date: 9/02/2026
Stipend Rate: The rates listed above are based on the current 2025-26 rates. 2026-27 rates TBD.
Season: Fall
Location: This position is a combined program of NLMS and LSMS, but is housed at the North Lake Middle School field.

Middle School Head Coach
REPORTS TO: Middle School Athletic Director/Principal
DIRECTS: Players
SUMMARY: Provide Leadership and Supervision for the Team

Providing requested information to the athletics coordinator

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the

Successful coaching experience at middle school level
Knowledge of past and current rules and strategies
Demonstrated skill in program development and evaluation
Demonstrated ability to motivate young athletes
Demonstrated ability to instruct students in skills of the sport and to help them learn
lifelong values of goal-setting, commitment to task, and good sportsmanship in the fact of
either victory or defeat
Knowledge of WIAA rules and regulations
Ability to maintain good working relationships with students, coaches, staff members and
patrons
Valid first aid/CPR card.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Washington State driver's license
First Aid/CPR card
AED Certification
CULTURAL RESPONSIVENESS:
Ability to demonstrate cultural responsiveness, respect, and value for all cultural heritages, and
participate in conversations about identifying and addressing personal, cultural, and institutional bias.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to
administration, staff, and students.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers and decimals
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
