Human Resources & Safety Administrative Assistant

Location: Hartford, CT
Schedule: Full Time
Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 salary, plus benefits

Our busy construction company is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented HR and Safety Administrative Assistant to support our Hartford office. This full-time role will primarily assist the Director of HR & Safety with clerical, administrative and HR-related tasks that support hiring, onboarding, new hire check-ins, and safety. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and prior HR experience. Previous experience in the construction industry is helpful, but not required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of HR & Safety
  • Execute clerical and general office duties such as maintaining organized digital and physical filing systems for HR, DOT, and safety records, and ordering supplies.
  • Schedule and Track onboarding tasks, physical and drug tests, DOT clearinghouse queries, driver’s license checks, employee training, and vehicle registrations.
  • Help coordinate employees' meetings and support additional administrative tasks to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Additional tasks as needed to support the team.

 

Construction Administrative Assistant Qualifications:

  • High school diploma is required - additional college, such as an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree is valuable
  • HR experience, comfortable working with HR software and digital platforms to track onboarding, training, certifications, and employee records.
  • Excellent time management, organization, attention to detail, and communication skills are
  • Proficient in computer skills, MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and the ability to learn additional software systems quickly.
