Job Title:  Freshman Cheer Coach - WHS for 2026-27


 


Reports To:  Cheer Coordinator and the Assistant Principal


 


DESCRIPTION: Instruct student athletes in the fundamentals, strategies, rules, and physical training needed for individual and team success in cheer. Promote participation, self-confidence, work ethic, and good sportsmanship in each student involved. 



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Knowledgeable about the rules and fundamental techniques required of the sport 

  • Ability to obtain current CPR / First Aid when applicable 

  • Ability to work effectively with sport coaching staff, parents, and school staff


 


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Attend summer and school year practices / meetings

  • Attend summer UCA / NCA camp

  • Supervise cheerleaders at games for various sports

  • Coordinate and supervise various philanthropy and fundraising events

  • Assist in the preparation and supervision of cheer tryouts in the spring

  • Take responsibility for all outcomes and happenings related to cheerleading

  • Maintain organized set of standard procedures and routines

  • Maintain consistent communication with Assistant Principals

  • Comply with department / district policies

  • Develop positive self image with athletics 

  • Utilize sound teaching methods to develop skills / techniques 

  • Demonstrate public support / loyalty for coaches 

  • Demonstrate positive team sportsmanship toward opponents and officials 


 


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:



  • Able to establish and maintain strong lines of communication with student other coaches, athletes, parents, and teachers

  • Be approachable and encourage all stakeholders to share concerns

  • Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds. 

  • Develop a consistent, stable, and trustworthy working relationships with students, staff, and the school community 

  • Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies
