Business Intelligence Analyst

Location

India Delivery Center (IDC) – Remote / Hybrid

Reporting To

BI Lead / Head of Analytics / Operations Intelligence (US)

Experience

4–7 years (Fintech / Payments / Regulated Ops strongly preferred)

Role Objective

Own centralized Tableau reporting for a US-based fintech payments platform (Prisma). Act as
the offshore reporting backbone—delivering accurate, timely, and decision-ready dashboards
for Payments, Risk, and Operations, while operating across time zones with minimal
supervision.

Core Responsibilities

1. Tableau Reporting Ownership – Payments, Risk & Ops (Primary)

Build, maintain, and scale production-grade Tableau dashboards covering:

A. Payments & Transaction Metrics
 Transaction volume (daily / hourly / client-level)
 Authorization success vs failure rates
 Decline reason analysis (bank, network, validation, risk)
 ACH / Card / Alternative rail performance
 Retry success, partial settlements, reversals
 T+0 / T+1 / T+N settlement tracking

B. Risk, Fraud & Disputes
 Risk flag trends  &rule-trigger rates
 Fraud velocity indicators
 Chargebacks by reason code & aging
 Dispute lifecycle tracking (open → resolved)
 Loss rate, recovery rate, exposure dashboards
 Client / merchant risk heat maps

C. Operations & SLA Performance
 End-to-end processing SLAs
 Ops backlog & queue aging
 Exception volumes & resolution TAT
 Manual vs automated processing rates
 Ops productivity (volume per FTE, error rates)
 Client onboarding & KYB turnaround metrics

Expectations
 Use advanced Tableau features: LODs, parameters, actions, complex calculated fields
 Optimize dashboards for large, high-frequency transaction datasets
 Implement row-level security (RLS) for client, role, and region-based access
 Maintain Tableau Server / Cloud publishing discipline (refreshes, permissions,
extracts)

2. India IDC Execution & Offshore Accountability
 Act as the single accountable BI owner from IDC for assigned domains.
 Deliver dashboards that US stakeholders can trust without rework or clarification.
 Align reporting cut-offs to US business hours and settlement cycles.
 Proactively flag data issues—do not wait for stakeholders to notice.
 Maintain clean documentation so reporting is not person-dependent.

3. Data Validation, Controls & Governance
 Validate Tableau metrics against:
o Core transaction databases
o Settlement files
o Ops source systems
 Ensure metric consistency across Payments, Risk, Ops, and Finance.
 Own KPI definitions—prevent duplicate or conflicting numbers.
 Build reconciliation views for:
o Transactions vs settlements
o Ops actions vs system events
 Support audit, compliance, and executive reporting needs.

4. Insight Generation (Not Just Reporting)
 Identify:
o Payment failure spikes
o SLA degradation patterns
o Risk leakage and operational bottlenecks
 Provide short, written insight summaries with dashboards:
o What changed
o Why it matters

o What needs action
 Escalate risks early—this role is a warning system, not a reporting factory.

5. Stakeholder & Time-Zone Coordination
 Work directly with:
o US Ops leadership
o Risk & Compliance teams
o Product & Engineering counterparts
 Translate ambiguous asks into clear, scalable metrics.
 Push back on:
o One-off vanity reports
o Poorly defined KPIs
o Requests that break data integrity
 Enable self-serve analytics—reduce ad-hoc US requests over time.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have (Non-Negotiable)
 Advanced Tableau (Desktop + Server / Cloud)
o LOD expressions, parameters, dashboard actions
o Performance tuning (extract strategy, query optimization)
 Strong SQL

 Hands-on experience with:
o High-volume transactional data
o Fintech or payments datasets
 Strong understanding of:
o Payments lifecycle
o Settlements & reversals
o Disputes, chargebacks, risk signals
o Operational SLAs

Offshore / IDC Fit
 Proven experience working with US stakeholders

 Comfortable with:
o Late evening overlap or staggered shifts
o Asynchronous communication
 High ownership—no micromanagement tolerance
 Zero tolerance for incorrect numbers or broken dashboards

Preferred / Good to Have
 Prior experience in:
o Payments processors, banks, fintech platforms
o Risk or compliance reporting environments
 Familiarity with:
o Snowflake / Redshift / BigQuery
o Python (pandas) for data validation
o Metric catalogs or data documentation tools

Success Metrics (First 6–9 Months)
 Prisma Payments, Risk & Ops dashboards adopted as single source of truth
 30–40% reduction in ad-hoc US reporting requests
