Department/Organization: 206206 - Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute



Normal Work Schedule: Flexible; Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary: The Student Assistant supports the Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute (AEI) front desk. Answers the phone. Greets visitors. Assists with event setup and take down. Assists with research for EDGE or AEI, the Growth and Innovation Leaders Forum, and other research projects focused on growth and innovation.





Additional Department Summary: The Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute (AEI) delivers learning that accelerates the growth of businesses and creates new jobs. AEI provides students with unique opportunities to move beyond the classroom and learn by doing. They work on entrepreneurial projects with both new and established businesses as part of consulting teams. They also start up their own businesses or become part of teams working on startups. Students participate in competitions, attend networking events, are part of boot camps to quickly move ideas forward, and they get help from entrepreneurs and business executives.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama student. Good academic standing with a minimum 2.80 cumulative GPA. Ability to work 10 to 20 hours per week.




Skills and Knowledge: Basic computer skills. Good communication skills.




Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
