Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a dynamic music curriculum for elementary students that aligns with state standards and promotes musical literacy.
- Teach a variety of musical concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and music appreciation, through engaging lessons and activities.
- Organize and conduct school performances, concerts, and other musical events to showcase students' talents and learning.
- Assess and evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their musical development.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to integrate music into other subject areas and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and respect for diverse musical backgrounds.
- Maintain an organized and well-equipped music classroom, including the care of instruments and teaching materials.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and musical achievements.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in music education and pedagogy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Music Education for elementary education.
- Proven experience teaching music to elementary-aged students, preferably in a classroom setting.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal and instrumental techniques, and various musical genres.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments is preferred.
