The impact you will make:

Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Senior Director, Commercial Analytics to join our growing Commercial Operations & Analytics (COA) team. We want someone who cares about this important work, and who’s driven to connect to our mission of helping these patient communities. The Senior Director, Commercial Analytics will be responsible to serve as a key thought partner to our commercial leadership team. This role sits within Commercial Operations & Analytics (COA) – one of three core pillars of the function – and leads the analytics capabilities that shape how we understand our market, measure performance, and plan for the future. This is a high-impact, highly visible role suited for a “player-coach” who can lead a lean, high-performing team while remaining hands-on in delivering insight. The Senior Director will drive commercial analytics across the full product portfolio – spanning marketed products and pipeline assets – with a particular emphasis on rare diseases.

Reporting to the VP, Commercial Operations & Analytics, this leader will be instrumental in synthesizing market intelligence, operational performance data, and competitive dynamics into clear, actionable recommendations for commercial strategy and decision-making.

What you will do:

  • Serve as a trusted analytics partner to commercial leadership, translating data and insights into clear strategic recommendations that drive brand and portfolio decisions
  • Lead all forecasting efforts, including short-term operational forecasts, long-range planning models, and scenario analyses; ensure assumptions are grounded in robust market and customer data
  • Own national-level commercial performance reporting and analytics – developing and maintaining dashboards and KPI frameworks that track launch and in-line product performance
  • Lead competitive intelligence efforts: systematically monitor the competitive landscape, synthesize findings, and translate implications into strategic recommendations for marketing, clinical, and business development teams
  • Drive primary and secondary market research initiatives – including brand research, message testing, patient and HCP insights – ensuring high research quality and integration with commercial strategy
  • Support business development assessments by providing forecasting expertise, market sizing, and commercial analytics to evaluate pipeline and partnering opportunities
  • Contribute to pipeline and new product planning activities, including early commercial assessments, market opportunity analyses, and launch readiness analytics
  • Connect the dots across performance data, market dynamics, and competitive signals to proactively surface risks and opportunities for the commercial organization
  • Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing commercial analytics team; build team capabilities while managing third-party research vendors effectively
  • Act as an internal consultant across marketing, sales, market access, finance, clinical, supply and regulatory functions to support cross-functional decision-making

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of experience in commercial analytics, market research, forecasting, or competitive intelligence within the biopharmaceutical industry; graduate degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in rare or genetically defined diseases, including both marketed products and pipeline assets
  • Strong forecasting and financial modeling skills; ability to build and communicate long-range and scenario-based models to senior stakeholders
  • Deep familiarity with biopharmaceutical secondary data sources (e.g., Specialty Pharmacy data, claims data) and primary market research methodologies
  • Experience supporting business development or licensing assessments with commercial analytics and market insights
  • Proven track record as a “player-coach” – able to lead and develop a team while remaining personally engaged in key analytical deliverables
  • Excellent executive communication skills; ability to distill complex analyses into clear narratives and recommendations for commercial leadership
  • Strong cross-functional influencing skills; comfortable operating across marketing, sales, market access, finance, clinical, and regulatory teams
  • High intellectual curiosity and rigor – able to challenge assumptions, identify non-obvious insights, and bring creative problem-solving to ambiguous questions
  • Prior consulting experience or experience in a small/mid-size biotech environment a plus
