About Futuristic Underwriters
Futuristic Underwriters is a growth-focused Managing General Agent building disciplined, industry-specific underwriting capabilities nationwide. We currently write small and middle-market business on an E&S basis, with admitted products under development.
Our platform spans multiple underwriting programs, coverages, and industry verticals, including hospitality, real estate, construction, and retail/service risks. We are actively investing in underwriting tools, automation, and operational infrastructure to improve execution, consistency, and scalability.
The Position
This role sits at the center of underwriting operations and is responsible for both keeping workflows running and building better ways to run them.
You will operate in a fast-growing, evolving environment where many processes are still being defined or refined. This is not a passive role. You are expected to identify gaps, challenge inefficiencies, and drive improvements without waiting for fully defined direction.
You will work across underwriting, operations, IT, and product teams to reduce manual work, improve consistency, and implement scalable processes and tools.
Success in this role requires strong insurance knowledge, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to turn loosely defined problems into structured, actionable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting Operations Execution
- Support day-to-day underwriting workflows across new business, renewals, endorsements, and referrals
- Identify and resolve operational issues impacting turnaround time, accuracy, and service levels
- Maintain consistency across underwriting processes, guidelines, and workflow standards
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify workflow bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and manual processes across underwriting operations
- Design and implement improved workflows, including automated and semi-automated solutions
- Reduce reliance on manual processes by introducing scalable, repeatable solutions
Systems & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for system enhancements and operational tools
- Partner with IT, product, and external vendors on testing, implementation, and rollout of improvements
- Navigate competing priorities and limited resources to move initiatives forward
Reporting & Operational Insights
- Develop and maintain reporting on workflow volume, turnaround times, referrals, and quote activity
- Identify trends, gaps, and areas requiring action
- Provide visibility that drives operational and underwriting decisions

- Measurable reduction in turnaround times and workflow bottlenecks
- Increased automation and reduced manual processing
- Improved consistency and execution across underwriting operations
- Clear, actionable reporting used by underwriting and leadership
- Successful rollout of process and system enhancements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in commercial insurance, underwriting operations, or related P&C roles
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages (GL, Property, Auto, Umbrella/Excess, etc.)
- Experience supporting underwriting workflows and operational processes
- Proven ability to identify problems, structure solutions, and drive process improvements
- Experience working with reporting tools (Excel required)
- Ability to work cross-functionally with underwriting, IT, and operations teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
- E&S, MGA, wholesale, or delegated authority environments
- Experience supporting multiple underwriting programs or product lines
- Exposure to system implementations, workflow tools, or automation initiatives
- Experience writing business requirements, user stories, or process documentation
