Typical Day in the Life

While no day is typical, some general daily expectations as a System Engineer Consultant may include:

  • Provide high-level of technical support, customer service and satisfaction with clients and team members.
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of technology solutions for clients with a focus on uptime, high availability, backup and restore, performance, and reliability for network and server systems and standards.
  • Supporting systems analysis and performance optimization under the guidance of senior team members, including recommendations, planning, deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of operating systems, software applications, web deployed applications, SaaS application services and systems security.
  • Assisting in the implementation and automation of protective controls to enhance clients' security posture for both onsite and cloud-based systems.
  • Staying informed about current cybersecurity threats and assisting in recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Contributing to scoping and estimating the implementation of technology solutions for clients.
  • Participating in mentoring and technical training sessions led by senior team members.
  • Keeping up to date with technology trends and issues to apply that knowledge to client solutions.

Who You Are 

  • You hold a 2-year IT/Technical degree in computer science, networking, management information systems, information security, or have equivalent work experience.
  • You have 2+ years (4 preferred) of experience providing support and troubleshooting for workstations and servers in a distributed environment and serving US based customers.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Windows 10/11 Desktop, or similar server/desktop operating systems certifications are beneficial.
  • Basic technical knowledge, implementation and support of endpoint detection and response solutions, network technologies including SonicWALL, Cisco, Network + certificate, OSI model, and TCPIP troubleshooting, virtual such as Microsoft Azure and VMware, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, backup/recovery solutions, storage systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively and understand the layers of technology that make it work.
  • Previous email migration to Microsoft 365 preferred
  • Follow existing standards, processes, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level Microsoft technologies.
  • Exposure to maintaining and engineering infrastructures.
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts covering 24/7.
  • You have excellent communication skills and proficiency to handle customer calls effectively and are proactive communicator with all stakeholders. You thrive working in a collaborative team environment.
