Job Description

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

This position is responsible for field engineering and technical support for the SPD construction department. Position is required to ensure that work is performed to the highest standard with regards to safety and quality. That all customer expectations are met or exceeded by ensuring construction, division and site objectives, goals and commitments are achieved.

Experience managing team of multi-discipline engineers.

Meet one of the following discipline qualifications:

Electrical-
Experience with electrical system installation/modification designed and constructed in accordance with national electrical codes and standards including NFPA and NEC
Mechanical –
Experience with mechanical system installation/modification designed and constructed in accordance with national piping codes and standards including Working knowledge of ASME piping codes.
Civil –
Experience with civil and architectural installation/modification designed and constructed in accordance with national codes and standards including IBC, ACI, AISC, OSHA.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Manage the field engineering department to ensure timely and cost-effective engineering services.
2. Provide oversight of all construction modifications and installations to ensure compliance with design and code
requirements.
3. Manage field engineering functions to ensure that all technical personnel have the qualifications required to perform task and maintain technical excellence for activities assigned.
4. Ensure that construction efficiency is optimized by providing construction input and involvement in the project throughout the conceptual design phases, construction and turnover phases.
5. Support project team in the development of the construction strategies, design reviews, cost and schedule reviews and other input as needed.
6. Provides guidance and direction to employees, including on the job training, to optimize employee development and improve job performance.
7. Provide technical oversight and direction to Davis-Bacon subcontractors ensuring design and code requirements are achieved.
8. Provide education, briefings, status to department, division and site management.
9. Identifies improvements in construction execution, planning and project development and new technology in support of construction.
10. Manages HR and Staffing issues, including salary administration, performance reviews, career counseling for organization.

• Twelve or more YOE as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed plus three or more years of experience (YOE) in a relevant management role, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus eight or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus five or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
• Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

Technical degree preferred.
Nuclear experience is desired.
Previous SRS Experience.

Previous experience related to construction engineering, project planning, job hazards analysis, and material procurement utilizing SRS specific processes, programs, procedures, and systems.
Previous experience with forecasting staffing needs to meet organizational commitments.
Previous experience interfacing with internal and external customers (i.e. DOE, NNSA, DNFSB, IEB, QA, etc.).

Discipline

Construction Field Engineer

Discipline Description

Construction field engineers plan, direct, and coordinate execution of construction field activities within the civil, mechanical, electrical, and welding disciplines. They perform constructability reviews of design documents to ensure details and information is adequate for successful completion of construction and provide design agencies with construction technical input for design development and required changes. They review and manage the implementation of project design and maintenance activities using existing specifications, national Codes and standards, drawings, and the latest construction techniques. Construction engineers ensure that proper work processes, design, quality, schedule, safety, security, and environmental requirements are communicated to and adhered to by Craftsmen and their supervision. They develop construction scope turnover packages and coordinate turnover to Start-up, as required, in support of the project schedules. They perform inspections as required by Codes and designs and create maintain proper inspection documentation. Construction field engineers participate in team environments including developing effective solutions to technical issues encountered, working with applicable Health and Safety personnel to ensure work is conducted in a safe manner, and perform frequent jobsite reviews to ensure components and systems are properly installed.

$126,072 - $176,808
