About the role
Responsibilities
Provide 1-1 advising for Grade 11-12 students and/or families about university selection and applications.
Liaise with Grade Level Leaders and the Director of Student Services to ensure that the University & Career Curriculum is taught in Advisory (grade 6-12).
Support academic advising and add/drop for Grades 11-12.
Arrange university visits, college fairs, and educational career presentations for students and parents.
Communicate regularly with parents and students.
Collect student data related to university admissions (locations, scholarships, majors, etc)
Establish relationships with admission officers both overseas and in Vietnam. Maintain contacts and mailing lists for college and universities
Understand and maintain the university admission management system (Maia Learning) and educate families on how students use it.
Prepare supplementary materials to be sent to colleges. Oversee that school credentials (transcripts and letters of recommendation) get sent to colleges.
Pursue appropriate professional development, including attendance at annual conference(s) in the counseling and admission professional organizations.
Serve as a general resource for students, parents, and teaching faculty regarding admission criteria and college data.
Understand the college admission process at a variety of institution types and selectivity levels.
Work with faculty to integrate college-related skills (i.e., essay writing, interviewing, etc.) into regular curricula.
Work with external Test Prep Coordinator to provide information about testing options and preparatory classes.
Write school recommendations for members of the senior class (detailed letters of support).
Support the Principal to update the High School Profile annually
Support the Director of Student Services and the Principal with other duties as needed.
The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head or indeed to the Regional CEO so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited college/university.
Position requirement

Fluency in written and spoken Vietnamese
Strong knowledge of College & University Counseling
Understanding of academic programs and credits
