JOB TITLE:                  Maintenance Mechanic

Michigan Brick is seeking a 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician for our manufacturing facility in Corunna, MI. Michigan Brick is a subsidiary of General Shale Brick, North America’s largest manufacturer of clay bricks and other masonry materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:       

• Ensure that all necessary repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance work requests are carried out.
• When unsupervised, the successful applicant will fulfill written work orders left by his immediate supervisors and also respond promptly to priority work requests from Production Foremen, Lead hands and Kiln firemen to ensure that production has full support from the Maintenance Department.
• Will repair equipment and fabricate parts.
• Will participate in the Company’s health & safety, housekeeping and environmental programs throughout the plant..
• As well as: maintaining and repairing, will become involved in improving the durability of machinery and efficiency of the process.

EDUCATION:                     

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Millwright certification preferred
• Welding certification preferred
• Ability to obtain forklift certification

WORK EXPERIENCE:      

• 5 years industrial environment experience preferred
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety, health, and quality
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team with minimal supervision                                               

SKILLS REQUIRED:         

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven record of teamwork & leadership skills.
• Use of both arms, hands, legs, and feet are required.
• Must not be hearing or sight impaired.
• Posses a thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical conveying systems along with the basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Some overtime hours may be required
• Committed to working in a zero harm workplace.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:          

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, twisting, crawling.
• Must not be hearing or sight impaired.
• Occasional lifting, pushing, reaching, and grasping.
• Must be dependable with good attendance record.
