Position Overview



Southern Avenue Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated 4th Grade Science Teacher to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for scientific exploration in elementary students. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction while fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic and social development of all learners.



Key Responsibilities




  • Plan and deliver engaging 4th grade science lessons aligned with state academic standards and the school’s curriculum.

  • Create hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage exploration, experimentation, and problem solving.

  • Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to monitor student progress.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

  • Use data from formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and improve student outcomes.

  • Establish and maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies to enhance learning.

  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers, instructional coaches, and administration to support student achievement.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and academic expectations.

  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

  • Supervise students during assigned duties such as lunch, recess, or school events.

  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and reports as required by the school.
