Job Description

Position Summary(Basic Job Function)


This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.


Unit Position Summary


The FAME Program is seeking an on-call staff member (up to 19 hours per week) to support current and prospective FAME students. This position works in close collaboration with the FAME Director to provide coaching, resource navigation, and recruitment support. The role includes a combination of in-office and virtual hours, with a set in-office schedule determined prior to the start of each semester. 


Key Responsibilities:


●    Provide one-on-one academic, social-emotional, and life-skills coaching to FAME students.
●    Assist students in accessing campus and community resources to support their personal and academic success.
●    Support the recruitment of eligible students through outreach activities, presentations, and communication with campus and community partners.
●    Maintain accurate and timely documentation of coaching sessions and student progress.
●    Collaborate with the FAME Director to identify student needs, develop programming, and ensure continuity of services.
●    Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as appropriate.
●    Uphold confidentiality and follow all MSU policies and FAME Program guidelines.
●    Required Training: Completion of the Fostering Success Coach Foundations Training is required for this position and will be provided upon hire.

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, psychology, or another closely related discipline.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Experience working with youth or young adults from broad cross section backgrounds, preferably with those who have experienced foster care, homelessness, or related challenges.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, coaching models, or student support services.

  • Familiarity with MSU campus resources or similar higher-education environments.

  • Experience in outreach or recruitment.
