Position Overview


 


The Data Architect collaborates with Business Owners, Process Owners, IT Application Owners, Data Stewards, Enterprise Architects, and external partners to create and maintain enterprise‑wide data models, definitions, lifecycle rules, and quality standards. 


The function plays a central role in master data governance, data lifecycle management, data migration, and data quality monitoring, ensuring that master and transactional data support the organization’s strategy and operational requirements 


 


 


What you will do


 


Data Governance & Standards 



  • Contribute to define and maintain enterprise‑wide data standards in alignment with Enterprise Architecture, including data definitions, attributes, hierarchies, and ownership models. 

  • Establish and maintain end‑to‑end data lifecycle rules (phase‑in, change, phase‑out). 

  • Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, including roles, responsibilities, and approval workflows. 

  • Collaborate with Business Owners to ensure alignment of rules with operational requirements and compliance standards. 


Master Data & Transactional Data Management 



  • Define and own reference data models for master data domains (e.g., material, customer, vendor, product, asset, pricing etc.). 

  • Oversee master data creation, update, change, and retirement processes. 

  • Ensure data harmonization across regions, systems, and business units. 

  • Identify data issues and drive data cleansing initiatives with business stakeholders.


Data Quality Management 



  • Define data quality rules, KPIs, and measurement criteria. 

  • Implement tools, dashboards, and monitoring processes to ensure ongoing data quality. 

  • Coordinate remediation activities with Business Owners, IT teams, and data stewards. 

  • Ensure proactive prevention of data inconsistencies across applications. 


Data Migration & Transformation Support 



  • Lead and coordinate data migration strategies for projects and programs (legacy to target systems). 

  • Define migration approach, mapping guidelines, cleansing requirements, and acceptance criteria. 

  • Work closely with system integrators to ensure consistent, accurate, and validated data migration. 

  • Ensure proper documentation of data models, mapping, and transformation logic. 


Architecture & Integration Alignment 



  • Align data architecture with application, process, integration, and cloud architectures. 

  • Ensure data flows and ownership models are consistent across the E2E landscape. 

  • Collaborate with integration teams to ensure data interfaces are consistent, standardized, and governed. 

  • Support ARB (Architecture Review Board) processes for data‑related topics.


Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration 



  • Work closely with Business Owners, GPOs/GPEs, and IT teams to ensure alignment and clarity. 

  • Facilitate workshops on data harmonization, lifecycle rules, and quality improvements. 

  • Provide regular updates on data quality status, risks, and improvement initiatives. 

  • Document and communicate impacts of data changes across the organization. 


Continuous Improvement 



  • Identify process inefficiencies in data management and propose improvements. 

  • Support automation of data validation, cleansing, and quality monitoring. 

  • Drive maturity in enterprise‑wide data governance and lifecycle management. 

  • Support the introduction of modern data management technologies and tools. 


 


 


What we require


 



  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Architecture, Master Data Management, Data Governance, or related fields 

  • Experience managing enterprise master data in ERP/CRM/PLM environments (SAP/Salesforce preferred) 

  • Experience with data migration during large transformation programs 

  • Practical experience in developing data models, definitions, and governance frameworks 

  • Experience working in international, distributed teams 

  • Strong knowledge of data governance, master data management, and data lifecycle models 

  • Proven experience in data architecture across complex IT landscapes 

  • Skills in data modelling, metadata management, and data flow documentation 

  • Strong analytical ability to identify data inconsistencies and quality issues 

  • Experience in coordinating cross‑functional data cleanse and harmonization activities 

  • Ability to produce high‑quality data documentation and governance artifacts

  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams through influence 

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills 

  • Experience in data governance councils or working groups 

  • Ability to drive alignment across business and IT at senior levels 

  • Skilled in orchestrating complex multi‑stakeholder discussions 





What we prefer


 



  • Experience with SAP MDG, SAP ADM by Syniti, SAP S/4HANA data models, or equivalent MDM platforms 

  • Experience with Azure Data Services, data lakes, data warehouses 

  • Knowledge of integration and ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, SAP DS, Azure Data Factory) 

  • Experience with data quality tools and dashboards 

  • Familiarity with compliance requirements (GDPR, ISO, internal standards)
