Job Description

Description

The LPN provides patient care in the office/clinic setting.  The position works with specialty physicians and their staff to gather information for the clinic visit.

Ability to assist nursing and medical staff with routine examinations and patient treatments. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.

Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.

Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. 

Ensure medical and surgical asepsis is carried out during treatments and special procedures.

Ability to position and prep patients for office procedures.

Communicate appropriately and clearly to coworkers, physicians and Outpatient Clinic Manager.

Demonstrate the ability to assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of an RN/LPN and/or physician.

Maintain infection control standards for exam/procedure rooms; clean, disinfect, change linen etc.

Maintain office instruments; knowledgeable of sterilization techniques and biological indicators for sterilization.

Meet current documentation standards and policies.

Maintains established office policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Responsible for interviewing patients or their representative, for obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.

Answers telephone calls in a professional manner, directs calls appropriately; and scheduling patient appointments for referral physicians using the Enterprise Wide Scheduling system.

Ensures an adequate stock of supplies.

Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.  Performs preventative maintenance.

Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Current LPN licensure.

Current BCLS certification.
