Job Description

This position is a one year, interim position beginning July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027. Salary listed is the current year rate and will be adjusted for IPD for next school year.

ABOUT ROCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT

Rochester is a growing community located in Western Washington approximately 20 miles south of Olympia off of I-5.  Residents of Rochester enjoy life in a beautiful, rural setting with tremendous recreational, cultural and social activities readily available. The district is located 90 miles from White Pass ski area, 85 miles from Seattle, 90 miles from Portland and only 60 miles from the wonderful beaches of the Pacific Ocean. The nearby communities of Olympia and Centralia have full service hospitals and offer extensive retail shopping and support services.

The Rochester School District services 2100 students in five facilities.  The district is proud of its educational programs and the highly skilled professionals who lead them.

SCOPE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include providing leadership aligned and committed to the District's Strategic Plan for the continual improvement of educational programs for all students; a commitment to equity and building a diverse school community; maintaining positive staff relationships with all stakeholders of the Rochester School District; directing staffing and budgetary decisions, and maintaining commitment to the District's mission statement. The Interim Director:

  • Oversees all district curriculum materials, including leading review cycles, managing adoptions, and facilitating related purchasing.
  • Manages the distribution and coordination of consumable instructional materials across the district.
  • Provides ongoing curriculum training and direct support to educators and instructional staff.
  • Leads the technology team to manage and maintain all district technology for classrooms, the district office, staff, teachers and students. 
  • Supervises, supports, and conducts performance evaluations for district technology technicians.
  • Supports, coordinates, plans, and provides instruction for district-wide Professional Development.
  • Manage and apply for grants, and oversee the PD Mini Grant Committee.
  • Oversees Fundamental Course of Study and General Certification and Educational Assistant (EA) training, including all associated recordkeeping, support, and coordination.
  • Manages the district’s eVal system to ensure accurate and compliant evaluation tracking.
  • Serves as an active and contributing member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet.
  • Provides ongoing mentorship, guidance, and operational support to Building Administrators.
  • Assists with district-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Oversees the alternative learning high school as the H.E.A.R.T. Administrator 
  • Oversees Career and Technical Education programs.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or Valid Washington State Administrative Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in school administration, district-level director role or administrative roles that are related to K-12 education.
  • Ability to structure time and manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Successful fingerprint/background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, communicate effectively, and utilize technology systems.
  • Lift at least 50 pounds
  • Frequent travel between district buildings and occasional travel outside the district for meetings and conferences is required.
