About the role -
The Content Editor is a pivotal part of the Editorial team. The Content Editor not only ensures
complete accuracy and consistency of the content but mentors the team with tips to improve overall content quality. The Content Editor’s responsibilities primarily centre on the following:
Responsibilities;
1. Edit all deals for grammar, spelling, casing and consistency. The Content Editor must ensure that the
content is error-free and oversee that the sentence flow is concise; all information is clear to the
reader and the content as a whole is enticing enough to make customers click the Buy button.
2. Engage and entertain the reader. At Groupon, high priority is placed to the overall tone of the deal.
We do not glorify. We do not oversell. We believe in teasing the reader’s intellect with witty writing.
We believe in engaging and entertaining rather than boring them with run-off-the-mill marketing
cliché. As a Content Editor, it is your primary task to ensure that this is the tone maintained for every
deal. No redundant content shall pass your hawk eyes.
3. Troubleshoot content queries. The Content Editor is required to assist writers with queries related to
deals, from helping them to understand a particular service to better ways of presenting content.
4. Communicate and create synergies. The Content Editor must be able to communicate with the Sales
and Account Management teams to iron out any irregularities and inconsistencies in the deal. He /
She must ensure there is absolutely no contradiction in the deal content.
5. Improve operations. The Content Editor is encouraged to identify issues within the process and
suggest better ways of doing them.
6. Mentor and grow. The Content Editor must set an example to writers to strive for better deal quality.
He / She must be able to give detailed, motivating feedback to the writers on a periodic basis to help
them better their writing skills. He / She must also be self-motivated to learn and remain updated on
the changing trends in marketing strategy, especially those that directly affect the content.
7 Give your 100%. The Content Editor must be flexible, hardworking and willing to meet tight deadlines while keeping up stringent quality standards.
Requirements:
1 2 years of experience in Content Writing, editing & proof reading.
2. HTML, Online research & CMS know-how.
3. Graduates in any discipline
4. Strong interpersonal and social skills
5. Positive attitude, energetic approach and self-motivation are all essential.
