The Dean of the School of Nursing reports directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and provides the leadership for effective and efficient managing of fiscal, human, and physical resources for both the Lamoni and Independence campus programs within the School of Nursing. This is an administrative position with Faculty Status serving under the Faculty Handbook. The Dean of the School of Nursing performs the management and supervision of Faculty and Administrative Staff; administrative oversight of program alignment with the strategic plan, mission, philosophy, professional standards and guidelines, accrediting and approval entities; program assessment; faculty appointment recommendations, orientation, mentoring, and development; implementation of new programs; course scheduling, and teaching assignments; coordinating faculty workload and productivity; policy and procedure development, implementation and revision; recruiting and admission practices; accuracy and consistency of publications, handbooks, and catalogs; collaboration and support of student support services, community practice partners, faculty, and student advocacy.
The Dean of the School of Nursing provides strong leadership in building relationships with local, state, and national organizations in addition to governmental and accreditation agencies. In addition, the Dean of the School of Nursing provides leadership and serves on committees as assigned.
