Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Location: Geneva, Illinois in ASC (Ambulatory Surgery Center)
Status: Full-Time (four 10-hour shifts)
Days/Hours: Monday - Friday
Rate of Pay: $34.00 - $41.00 (Minimum to mid-point)

Summary

Responsible for planning, providing and documenting professional nursing care in the operating room in addition to providing supplies, equipment, instrumentation or implants required during surgical procedures. Also responsible for maintaining an inventory of all items used during surgical procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist in the opening of all surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments adhering to aseptic surgical technique.
• Assist in the positioning of patients for surgical procedures.
• Ensure appropriate handling of specimens and cultures during surgical procedures.
• Develop and implement an individualized plan of care based on assessment of the patient�s condition, diagnosis and expected outcome. Responsible to document all care accordingly.
• Monitor and maintain patient safety during the surgical procedure including maintaining the sterile field, inventorying all supplies and ensuring patient positioning and padding of pressure points.
• Monitor the progress of the surgical procedure and anticipate the need for additional instruments, equipment and supplies providing them in a timely manner.
• Identify and respond to urgent situations ensuring emergency equipment and supplies are available and replenished if needed.
• Review documentation related to the surgical procedure to ensure all information has been accurately and thoroughly recorded.

Education & Experience

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois
• CPR/AED Certification
• Knowledge of governmental regulations, practices and procedures

Preferred:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification
• Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) Certification
• Experience in an ambulatory surgery center
