- Develops lesson plans that engage students in cognitively challenging work aligned to standards.
- Utilizes data about individual student progress, strengths and needs in planning.
- Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
- Evaluates student learning to determine progress, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
- Provides differentiated instruction in order to modify and accommodate for English Learners and students with special needs.
- Actively plans with grade level and language teams and collaborates effectively with all educational partners to maintain high program quality and continuity of learning

- Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development Authorization in the target language.
- Demonstrates oral and written proficiency in English and the target language.
- Demonstrates an understanding of culture and history of peoples and countries of the target language.
- Understands and supports the goals of the dual language immersion program: (1) bilingualism and biliteracy, (2) academic achievement, (3) sociocultural competence.
- Creates a positive classroom environment that equally values the target language and English.
