    Primary Purpose: 

    Under general supervision, lead and perform maintenance and repair work on district buildings, grounds, and equipment. Coordinate and monitor daily work assignments of maintenance personnel to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with district standards.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Certification:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record
    • Trade license or certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related field preferred

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in general maintenance and construction trades
    • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and OSHA standards
    • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals
    • Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
    • Ability to coordinate multiple work orders and prioritize tasks
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to maintain accurate records

    Experience:

    • Five years of experience in general maintenance or skilled trade work
    • Lead or supervisory experience preferred

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    Maintenance and Repair

    1. Perform skilled maintenance and repair work in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building systems.
    2. Diagnose problems and determine appropriate corrective action.
    3. Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and complete required documentation.
    4. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations.
    5. Inspect district facilities to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
    6. Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.

    Leadership

    1. Assign, coordinate, and monitor daily work of maintenance personnel.
    2. Provide technical assistance and guidance to staff.
    3. Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with district standards.
    4. Assist supervisor with training and orientation of maintenance staff.
    5. Communicate project status and facility concerns to supervisor and campus administrators.

    Safety and Compliance

    1. Follow district safety protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
    2. Promote safe work practices and correct unsafe conditions.
    3. Maintain required certifications and training.

    Other

    1. Maintain accurate work order records and reports.
    2. Assist with special projects as assigned.
    3. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Provide lead direction to assigned maintenance personnel; may assist supervisor with input on employee performance evaluations.
