Imaging Associates is launching an exclusive Mammography Technologist Training Program to develop skilled mammography technologists from ARRT-certified X-ray technologists. Trainees will undergo comprehensive didactic and clinical training by experienced techs with a combined expertise of 49+ years to achieve ARRT Mammography certification, joining our mission to provide Alaskans with advanced breast imaging services through the most modern imaging equipment in the world. **Sign on bonus of $5,000 gross shall be paid first payroll after employment. Additional bonus of $10,000 upon achieving ARRT Mammography Certification**

Requirements

  • Education: Successful completion of an AMA approved training program for radiologic technology.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as an X-ray technologist preferred or one year as a Rad Tech student. 
  • Licensure/Certification: Must be ARRT registered in Radiography.  Must obtain Mammography Certification within twelve (12) months of hire date. Current Certification in BLS.
  • Procedures:  Performs a variety of mammographic procedures according to clinical and national standards.
  • Documentation:  Responsible for accurately completing records, daily quality assurance and improvement information, meeting regulatory standards. Obtains  and documents patient history information
  • Equipment:  Calibrates, maintains and troubleshoots equipment.  Optimizes equipment and supplies to benefit operations.
  • Supplies and Inventory:  Stocks work area daily.  May be involved in ordering and stocking general supplies.
  • Safety and Education:  Compiles with national radiation standards (ALARA) Completes education necessary to maintain licensure or certification required for position.
  • Communication:  
    • Communicates with physicians and other members of the team concerning patient status, diagnosis, or related information.  
    • Operates multiple communication and telecommunication systems.  
    • Coordinates scheduling for diagnostic exams.  
    • Communicates with team members by regular participation in staff meetings.
    • Implements care/service that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served.
    • Strong commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with Guests and multidisciplinary teams.
    • Ability to work flexible hours across Anchorage, Eagle River, or Palmer locations.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

  • Training Phase (6–12 Months):
    • Complete 40 hours of ARRT-approved didactic training in mammography.
    • Perform 25 supervised mammograms and additional clinical hours under the guidance of certified mammography technologists, adhering to FDA MQSA standards.
    • Learn to operate advanced mammography equipment, including 3D mammography systems, and assist in patient preparation and positioning.
    • Collaborate with Breast Care Coordinators to support Guest consults, biopsies, and high-risk assessments.
    • Maintain accurate records of training progress and comply with ARRT and Imaging Associates protocols.
  • Post-Certification:
    • Independently perform diagnostic and screening mammograms with precision and care.
    • Ensure Guest comfort and privacy during imaging procedures, reflecting our patient-centered approach.
    • Work closely with breast radiologists, sonographers, and Breast Care Coordinators to deliver comprehensive breast diagnostics.
    • Participate in quality assurance activities, including equipment calibration and image quality reviews.
    • Support continuous improvement of Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence workflows.
